The Creators
Minion Comics is a site collecting comics written by Kevin Kneupper – there’ll be more to come, available digitally and for free!
WRITER:
Kevin Kneupper, the writer, is a patent litigation attorney in Austin, TX. In between pretending to understand how enterprise software really works and traveling to obscure places, he somehow finds time to write these comics.
ART - MINION:
The artist on the book is Matthew Petz. With his earliest memories being of superheroes and giant monsters it was inevitable that Matthew would someday work on comic books.
Past work ranges from biker zombie books to computer games. He is currently working on his Zuda winning comic, War of The Woods, which MTV Geek named one of the best web comics of 2010. It’s available via comixology at warofthewoodscomic.com.
He currently lives in Brooklyn.
ART – THE LYDIAN OPTION AND WIZARD SCHOOL:
The artist for The Lydian Option and Wizard School is Robert Rath, a freelance illustrator who has worked on projects such as First Dog: Unleashed in the Montana Capitol (a children’s book that won the Moonbeam Award).
You can view additional work by Robert here: http://www.robertrath.net/
ART – CARGO CULT:
The art on Cargo Cult is from a team from Azurek Studios:
Stefano Cardoselli is the primary artist. Stefano is a Tuscan born artist, who’s been in comics since 2000. A frequent contributor to Heavy Metal Magazine, HM Editor in Chief Kevin Eastman has said: “Stefano Cardoselli — I HATE this guy! I’ve only published everything he’s sent me! I think he can draw his ass off, and look forward to his next contribution.” Stefano has also worked with 2000AD, Antarctic Press, Blue Water Comics, Dark Slinger Comics, just to name a few. In 2001, with his wife Rita Gorgoni, Stefano founded Azurek Studios, which specializes in comics, toys, and animation. Stefano has a number of works coming out and available in the U.S., including “Chronicles of Van Helsing” and “Good Boy.”
Adam Pruett is the letterer – he’s worked on comics such as “Good Boy” and “H. Bullet.”
Iliara Bramato does color flatting for the comic – she’s worked on comics such as “Black Magic TV” and “Mac Sorly.”
You can view more of their work on the Azurek Studios page.
ART – THE NIGHT THE POWER WENT OUT
Barnaby Bagenda is the artist – he’s from Indonesia and lives in Jakarta with his schnauzer dogs Timmy, Milo and Ringo. He loves playing loud guitar and video games – you can view more of his art here: http://www.barnabybagenda.daportfolio.com/

Hey, just started reading, the comic’s great! Wish you enabled comments on the pages, though.
Also, what’s a rough idea of the update schedule?
Thanks! Will probably have the first half of the second issue done in mid-March (not planning to update page-by-page, but doing it in batches).
I put a comments page up, but didn’t want to enable them on each page (just because I think over time it would interrupt the reading experience).
As I noted on the main comment page, if you update in batches you will break RSS readers because your RSS generator only shows 10 at a time. This cripples your comic horribly.
Agreed, if updates continue to be this large. If so it might be best to not syndicate the comic itself and instead set up a syndicated announcements page. Then post something like “new comics up today(url to first page of the new pages)” every time you add new pages.
Saw this last night and am intrigued!
OK, I’ve read it and it has sunk it’s steely hooks in, it is good and we’ll seeya in March…
I love my minions, I wonder if the… villian in this one will.
This series looks interesting! Don’t know if I can wait until mid march for part two, though…
If this is a six-issue series, though, does that mean it’s already a sixth finished? Or is what is online just a part of the first issue?
This is the first issue – it’s planned to be six issues of twenty pages each.
I’m afraid that as soon as I get into the story it’ll be over! But as you said, it’s not one of those going-until-the-author-gets-sick-and-vanishes-forever webcomics, and I’m sure it’s probably better as is.
@Ethan: I feel that. But look on the bright side: maybe this way the author can bring different great series after this one is finished.
awesome!
I am looking forward to this.
Looks cooool. How do you do the artwork? ink on paper and import into computer or do it all on computer? If so, what software and if traditional, what markers or pens/brush do you use?
Keep up the great work!
The comic is off to a good start. The perspective on evil organizations is certainly fresh and welcomed, though the Venture Brothers influence seems pretty thick.
The only problem I can see with the comic so far is the characters’ mouths. I understand that comic characters might occasionally talk while their panel does not show them opening their mouths, but this is generally used for dramatic influence, and its value is lost if no character moves their mouths while talking. It also makes the images in which they appear much more boring, and the characters seem much more one-dimensional. The mouth is one of the most expressive parts of the human face, don’t let it go to waste. Make your characters talk.
That said. Excellent job so far. I look forward to seeing your plot develop.
No offense, but advertising when you’ve got, what, ten pages? Seems a waste.
I like where this comic seems to be going. I’ll make sure to read it all.
Also: Hey! The Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi! I’ve been there too! Is Sweden one of those obscure countries? I didn’t know that. *Looks around.* Doesn’t look obscure to me…
Ha, probably should go with obscure places… but it was a really fun trip. Really friendly people and in winter it looks like you’re in the middle of a Christmas movie, especially out in the rural parts with all the red cottage-type houses everywhere…
Watched an entire special on ice hotels. How they make them, how they run them. It was outright fascinating. Kudos on your trip, I don’t think I could ever do that. I’m a fellow Texan, and I am here for the /heat/. 90+ weather? Heaven. Anything below 70 is winter to me.
Any reference intended to Niven and Pournelle’s *The Mote in God’s Eye* and its sequel, *The Moat Around Murchison’s Eye*? Aside from escapees (humans, not Moties), there doesn’t seem to be anything in common.
Nope, although I read the first one in college (great book). I was taking that name from a Texas oil dynasty (the Murchisons).
It is inspired by another, much older book – the Anabasis, about a group of Greek mercenaries who had to fight their way out of Persia past a bunch of hostile tribes. Most of the names of the aliens came from there.
Great comics! I really like the contrast between Minion and Murchison’s Eye – something for everyone, right?
Now I’m reminded to read the Anabasis. Keep it up!
Searched for the comic on Facebook…but all I could find were those stupid yellow gremlins from that Disney movie…
I just read some of this and… Why does this remind me awfully much about The Venture Brothers?
O_o
I just found this comic today through Oglaf. This site is one of my bookmarks now.
I could read this forever
Tha’latta? Nice. Sounds like you read the Anabasis in Greek.
Minion is awesome, guys. I love the dialogue and the art – just made it to the most recent page and I can’t wait for more! Definitely gonna check out Lydian Option

That looks like a good place to call the front desk and complain that the central heat isn’t working properly.
Tell them the toilet’s backed up, too, while you’re at it….
